About Us![]() The Jesse Bethel High School "Jaguar" Band from Vallejo, California rank with the finest bands in Northern California. They have gained an enviable reputation through the years as an outstanding band in Concert, Marching and Jazz programs, receiving consistent Superior ratings in each of these idioms. They also have a very reputable percussion ensemble and colorguard. The community of Vallejo takes great pride in the bands' accomplishments and continually acknowledges its members as ambassadors of the community. The Jesse Bethel "Jaguar" Band has existed since the opening of the school in 1998 under the direction of Ken Smith and has risen to many new challenges. The Jaguar Band has accumulated hundreds of awards from parades, field shows and concert competitions. In addition, the Winter Guard and Drum Line programs have earned top honors at both regional and national competitions. The Jaguar Band strive to learn about music and marching through hard work, dedication and the pursuit of quality performance. This outstanding, competitive performance group also provides many opportunities for its members to personally develop and strengthen themselves in areas including leadership, teamwork, interpersonal growth, goal setting, time management and self-discipline. A strong work ethic, commitment to the program and a positive approach to teamwork are the foundation of the Jaguar's philosophy, which is: "Work hard, perform well, grow musically and have fun." These successes are the result of the dedication of the band members and the parent booster organization who oversees the activities of the band as well as providing support financially and through involvement with guidance from the band director. It is great fun to be a member, and it takes self-discipline and time for rehearsals, too. A lot of responsibility goes into being a member.
